The Argentine Football Association (AFA) has officially confirmed that Argentina will face off against Australia in an international friendly later this year in India. According to the Reporter Broadcasting Company, who are the match sponsors, the high-profile encounter will take place at the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium in Kaloor, Kochi. The Kerala government, through Sports Minister V. Abdurahiman, confirmed that it has received formal communication about the match, putting an end to weeks of speculation.

Following the official confirmation of the upcoming match, preparations have begun for the blockbuster clash. The stadium is reportedly set to undergo a massive ₹70-crore renovation to meet FIFA standards. The organizers have notably hired over 2,000 workers to upgrade facilities, install new seating, and set up high-intensity international-grade lighting systems.
Workers are also revamping the VIP galleries and player pavilions, which will ensure a world-class experience for both players and fans alike. According to the sponsors, the refurbishment will be completed within 30 days. Ahead of the game, fans will get to witness an A.R. Rahman concert and a live performance by rapper Hanumankind on November 16. Moreover, fans will also get to witness Lionel Messi and his teammates hold an open training session a day before the game.

As of now, reports indicate that official ticket sales are expected to begin by October 18 or 19.
“Ticket rates are being finalised and will be announced soon,” said Anto Augustine, managing director of Reporter Broadcasting Company, the official sponsor. Plans for a road show in Kozhikode and fan meet events in Kochi are also under consideration.
