Brian Carlson Biography
Brian Carlson is an American Emmy award-winning journalist, co-anchor, and reporter who is currently anchoring Good Morning and Midday Utah newscast which airs on ABC4 in Utah.
Carlson practiced his first on-air job while at school where he used to anchor a weekly show at a Salt Lake station and he enjoyed it. He followed his passion which led him to Brigham Young University where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism.
His first job was at KNDU in Kennewick, Washington where he was the first reporter in 2004 to cover the story of Ron Stallworth, a young black detective who infiltered the KKK. This report became the motivation for the Oscar award-winning film “BlacKkKlansman” which was directed by Spikes Lee.
In 2012, he bought drugs secretively and was instrumental in helping police capture an illegal drug dealer. This made him be awarded a regional Emmy award for his coverage which was titled Spice in the City.
