Hollywood icon, Harrison Ford, is one of the most prolific stars in film history. This has made Ford’s face extremely recognisable and through the countless films we’ve had the pleasure of watching him in, his facial scar has been noticed. Ultimately, this has begged the question – just what happened to Harrison Ford’s chin?
Fans would argue that the battle wound adds to the mysterious charm and appeal that Harrison Ford exudes. But, let’s discover what truly went down in the horror crash that gave him the chin scar…
Harrison Ford’s facial scar is from pre-fame horror crash
Harrison Ford actually got his scar following “a fast car crash,” which Ford thinks is “a real mundane way of earning it” according to Parade. The accident took place when Ford was driving to Bullock’s department store near Laguna Beach one morning, which is where he worked pre-fame.
Whilst trying to put his seatbelt on he swerved off the road and ended up crashing into a telephone pole. This resulted in his head slamming into the steering wheel. As a result, it required Ford to undergo some “inept emergency surgery,” which then gave him a chin scar.
Harrison Ford’s chin scar actually has a different story behind it in each production he features in. For example, in “Working Girl,” his character supposedly fainted and hit his chin on a toilet whilst getting his ear pierced. For Indiana Jones, the character cracks the bullwhip to defend himself against a lion and accidentally scars his chin instead.
This was not Harrison Ford’s only crash
This was not his only crash, whilst training in a helicopter in 1999 he made an emergency landing in a dry river bed in California. Ford and his training instructor were not hurt but the helicopter had a lot of damage done to it, according to BBC.
Ford also crash-landed his plane on a golf course near a Los Angeles airport in 2015. He reported having an engine failure shortly after taking off. He left the scene on a stretcher with a broken arm and head injuries, as per BBC.
Harrison Ford’s recent injury halts Indiana Jones filming
More recently, Harrison Ford has had to undergo surgery due to a shoulder injury. This has halted the filming of his upcoming Indiana Jones movie for almost three months now.
Thankfully, the 79-year-old star is now said to be back on set as he was seen filming in Buckinghamshire this week, according to The Sun.
