What led to James May’s hospitalization?

May’s car collided with a wall as he and Jeremy Clarkson were filming a drag race for The Grand Tour, breaking one of his ribs. At a Norwegian naval facility, May and Clarkson had to maneuver their rally cars through a tunnel and toward a rock wall in order to complete the challenge.

Drivers had less than five seconds to react if they didn’t have enough space since the tunnel light only came on as the cars drove along. The moment May seemed to comprehend this, he applied the brakes and crashed into a wall.

May was able to enter the hospital with the assistance of paramedics who arrived quickly, and the show was filmed without him.

According to a person who spoke to The Sun

It initially had a really unsettling appearance. When Jeremy and Richard started to worry about their partner, the paramedics rapidly rushed in. As is customary for a production of this size, medical personnel are on standby in case—as they did here—things go disastrously wrong.

The insider also stated that James took a severe blow to the head and is currently experiencing some neck and back pain.

The Grand Tour was created by May, Clarkson, Richard Hammond, James May, and Andy Wilman. Since its debut on November 18, 2016, the show has gotten generally positive reviews from both reviewers and viewers.

He is well known for his numerous television appearances, and he has hosted programs including Driven on Channel 4 and narrated Road Rage School on BBC One.

Inside Killer Sharks, a Sky documentary, was shown in May. In the 2008 BBC miniseries James May’s Big Ideas, he also toured the globe in search of applications for ideas that were primarily thought of as science fiction. In 2013, he then narrated To Space & Back, another documentary.

James, who founded the YouTube channel Head Squeeze, debuted JM’s Unemployment Tube in 2015. The channel includes mock constructions of Airfix models combined with cooking films from his kitchen. The channel’s most recent video was published in February 2021.
