Full Frontal With Samantha Bee canceled
On Monday (25 July), it was announced that Samantha Bee’s late-night satirical news talk show has been axed after a seven-season run.
In a statement to the show’s Twitter, it was revealed the show would not be returning this fall for a new instalment as it thanked viewers for their support over the years.
Quoting the tweet, Bee also extended her thanks as she shared her appreciation for the “wonderful people” who helped run the show behind the scenes.
The show first hit TBS in 2016 and the following year went on to win a Primetime Emmy for outstanding writing for a variety special.
News of the show’s cancelation comes just months after the show celebrated its 200th episode in December 2021.
A look at Bee’s career over the years
While in recent years, she has become known as a host, comedienne Samantha Bee started her career in the late 90s as part of the comedy troupe Atomic Fireballs.
Bee later went on to join The Daily Show With Jon Stewart in 2003 and was featured on the satirical news talk show for 12 years before stepping away in 2015. During her stint on the show, she was the only female correspondent between 2006 and 2008 and, following her departure, became the longest-serving correspondent in the show’s history.
As well as her time as part of The Daily Show, Bee has also featured on-screen as an actress having starred in HBO Canada’s Good God and the 2015 film Sisters alongside fellow comedians Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. Bee has also lent her voice to popular animated series, including Bob’s Burger’s BoJack Horseman and Phineas And Ferb.
Elsewhere Bee and husband, Jason Jones, also created, wrote, and executive produced the comedy series The Detour together in 2016. The show ran for four seasons until 2019, with the husband and wife duo having previously worked alongside each other on The Daily Show.
