Katie Ormerod Injury Update: Katie, a snowboarder from the United Kingdom who had been picked to compete in the 2018 Winter Olympics, has been injured.

She was supposed to compete in the 2018 Winter Olympics in slopestyle and big air snowboarding.

She was labeled “perhaps Britain’s biggest medal hope for Pyeongchang 2018,” but she had to pull out of the Games after breaking her heel in two places during training.

She had already injured her wrist, but she was adamant about competing.

The British snowboarder, Katie Ormerod, slid off a rail too early in training and split her right heel bone in half the day before competing in Pyeongchang 2018.

She added that her past injuries, including fractured vertebrae, broken arms, and a snapped anterior cruciate ligament, “felt like paper wounds” after the break.

 

 

Nine months of pinned bones, skin grafts, procedures, and arduous rehab followed.

She won her first Crystal Globe as an overall World Cup winner in slopestyle six months later, making her the most successful British snowboarder ever.

But she may be all set to compete in Winter Olympic 2022, going to be held in Beijing in February.

Katie was the first female to land a double cork 1080 on a snowboard which was one of the most challenging feats in snowboarding that involved three rotations and two inverted flips, in May 2014, when she was just 16 years old.
