The Nigerian Catholic Priest on Mission in Malawi, Reverend Father Kelvin Ugwu, claims that it’s best to stop saying “I rebuke you in the name of the God of my Pastor” on account of it’s idolatry. He said he doesn’t have any personal points with that, nonetheless doing it means you’ve “categorised and personalised” God to a minister.
Speaking further, he said categorising and personalising God to a minister implies that the God a selected Pastor serves is greater than the God one different Pastor serves. It moreover signifies that you’ve made your Pastor a deity. “You have fallen into the error of deification of your minister”, he said.
He added that making such utterances and classifications means you don’t have personal knowledge of God and also you’ve received been venerating your Pastor, not God. practising idolatry. “You are an idol worshipper”, he concluded.
