Season 4 of “Westworld,” a long-awaited and much-talked-about sci-fi drama, finally debuted on HBO around the world on June 26, 2022, a day early. The show is based on an important movie from 1973, and Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy came up with the idea for it. The current season will have eight episodes. There will be a lot of drama and action, as well as subtle emotional undertones and the characters’ struggles, which will keep fans glued to their screens.

Since it started in 2016, the HBO series has won 9 Primetime Emmy Awards, including one for Thandiwe Newton in 2018 for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Not many people know this, but the show has fans all over the world and has been praised.

After the end of season 3, the fourth season starts seven years later. It has been called a “dark odyssey about the fate of sentient life on Earth.”

We saw how season three of “Westworld” ended, when Caleb, Maeve, and Wood’s previous character, Dolores, destroyed and broke the AI system that had been keeping people on a predetermined path. Fans wanted to see this revolution all the way through, but ‘Westworld’ co-creator Lisa Joy let slip why she wasn’t interested.

Season 4 of “Westworld” takes place seven years after the horrible events of Season 3. In Season 4, we see that the revolution is over and that humanity is no longer a slave to Rehoboam, who was created by Engerraund Serac (Vincent Cassel).

Rehoboam was an artificial intelligence (AI) system that could see what would happen to people in the future. It even went so far as to literally control everyone’s lives by deciding what decisions each person would make and how they would make them. It also proved that free will was a myth, at least until Dolores, Caleb, and Maeve came along and helped stop it.

Season 3 of Westworld took place in a futuristic version of Los Angeles in the year 2053. Season 4 takes place around the year 2060.

In a recent interview with Newsweek, co-creator Lisa Joy, who made this show with her husband Jonathan Nolan, talked about how some people might have focused more on the immediate effects of an event like this, but she thought it would have been too much. But I think war is the most basic kind of tragedy because it makes no sense. It’s just awful, do you get what I’m saying? There’s not much more to say about it than how terrible it is and how sad it is that people get to that point, or how sad it is that so many lives were lost. And what worries me is how war changes people and what we can learn from it. How do we get through it?”

She also said, “Because these cycles of violence have happened over and over again throughout history. It seems like people are hard-wired to want to fight against tribalism. I didn’t want Westworld to be like a sports show where people watch to see who will get their asses kicked. Instead, I wanted to show the aftermath of war and its very real costs and effects.

Alison Schapker, the executive producer of ‘Westworld,’ says that the time jump in season 4 is because Jonathan and Lisa have a plan for each season and where they want to put the focus. She says, “Well, I think that Jonathan and Lisa very much have a vision for each season and where they want to be putting the emphasis, and I think that last season, Season 3, really built this battle against this algorithmic control of Rehoboam. And in some ways, that wasn’t going to end with just one Gambit. It was like the genie was out of the bottle.

She also said, “So I think that’s where they wanted it to start, and the other thing I’d say is that I really think we wanted to explore that theme.” If hosts are going to stay around in this new model, we can’t go back to just humans. What could that relationship be? And can hosts ever get past where they came from?”

Jeffrey Wright, Ed Harris, Luke Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Angela Sarafyan, and Aaron Paul also have roles in Season 4 of “Westworld.” It premiered around the world on HBO on June 26, 2022, and it airs every Sunday at 9 pm ET. You will be able to stream episodes on HBO Max.
