Over ten years after Bernice Gray’s alleged death and disappearance, stories claim that Robert Pann was sentenced to prison for her claimed murder in 1991.

Despite the fact that the victim’s body was never found, information from the supposed murder case was used by authorities to find the true murderer in ID’s American Monster, who was gradually believing his own lies. Gray’s abandoned car was discovered four days after she disappeared, but it wasn’t until 1995 that she was declared legally dead. Find out more information here.

As the case of the person who had been missing for some time turned into a homicide, authorities began looking for the murderer. When Bernice Gray, age 23, mysteriously vanished in 1991 and her abandoned car was discovered a short while later with blood splatters and two shot shells inside, authorities understood it was more than just a missing person case. Experts allegedly thought that she was shot at close range inside the automobile even though they were unable to confirm her death.

Since there were no solid leads and the victim’s body was never found, the inquiry advanced slowly and remained unsolved for years. According to her ex-husband Robert Pann, she slept the night at her parents’ home before going missing. Monique Diederich, the deceased’s closest friend, claimed that Pann had proposed to her for marriage but that she had been turned down by Gray, who then retaliated by threatening to kill her. Witnesses who had last touch with the victim came forward as the case progressed.

The jeweler from whom the ex had bought the ring came forward and stated that Bernice had passed away and that Pann had come to return it. The shoes he was wearing at the time were also covered with grass and mud. Robert Pann was put on trial in 2001 for the alleged murder of his ex-girlfriend Bernice Gray; it is said that he pleaded not guilty. After the prosecution presented a compelling case, the defendant was ultimately found guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison without the chance of release.

His sentence was increased by two extra years since he had a gun when the crime was committed. Pann has been detained at the Carson City Correctional Facility in Carson City, Michigan, ever since. The complete narrative will now be presented in the forthcoming American Monster episode, which will air on June 19, 2022.
