Per @FBIDallas, notes left behind by Dallas ICE shooter Joshua Jahn read

So Joshua Jahn was a communist and carved anti-ICE messages onto his bullet casings. Ended up killing migrant detainees seemingly by accident before killing himself.

According to FBI officials, Jahn meticulously prepared for the attack, gathering information on ICE agents and downloading security-related documents.
FBI officials discover handwritten manifesto of Joshua Jahn
The FBI has confirmed that agents have reportedly recovered a handwritten note from Jahn after the attack. The manifesto included a disturbing message stating:
“Hopefully this will give ICE agents real terror, to think, ‘is there a sniper with AP rounds on that roof?’”
According to FBI Director Kash Patel, Jahn’s digital footprint showed extensive pre-attack planning. Jahn had repeatedly searched for a “Charlie Kirk shot video,” downloaded a Dallas County Homeland Security document listing DHS sites, and explored apps to track ICE agents. Patel further stated the evidence clearly pointed to “a high degree of pre-attack planning.”
Joshua Jahn allegedly positioned himself on a rooftop and fired toward a vehicle near the ICE field office’s entrance on Wednesday morning. Upon investigation, investigators found several spent shell casings at the scene, including ones marked with anti-ICE messages. Authorities have since confirmed the attack as a targeted act of violence against immigration officials.

Joshua Jahn social media profiles
Following the shooting, social media accounts of Joshua Jahn have allegedly surfaced online. Popular political commentator Laura Loomer showed screenshots of a deleted Facebook profile showing communist imagery, including a figure holding a hammer and sickle. The profile also listed a birthdate in April 1996, which aligns with Jahn’s reported age.
There are also several unverified X accounts linked to Jahn that featured posts mocking political figures and commenting on immigration. Meanwhile, other online claims suggested that Jahn was active on Discord gaming groups and had just recently lost his job at Walmart. However, despite all of these claims, authorities have not yet confirmed the authenticity of these accounts.

During a press briefing, FBI Special Agent Joe Rothrock stated that investigators are now treating the incident as a “targeted attack.” Rothrock further added that they are reviewing all available evidence, including Joshua’s social media activity. The FBI has also released images of unspent shell casings bearing the words “ANTI-ICE,” discovered from the shooting site.
Age 29 White American Joshua Jahn born in April, 1996 was originally a native of Allen, Texas, where he and his siblings were once part of the Boy Scouts. Despite being unemployed at the time of the shooting, his brother revealed that he had some coding experience and was making plans to move back into his parents’ Oklahoma property. Authorities are still combing through his online activity, communications, and personal history in order to get a clear motive behind his anti-ICE actions.
He was a registered independent who voted in the Democratic primary in 2020 and last cast a ballot in 2024.
Joshua Jahn was born to parents Sharon and Andy Jahn. Interestingly, his mother, Sharon, drew attention after reporters uncovered her old Facebook posts railing against Texas Republicans and gun culture. She has publicly criticized politicians like Governor Greg Abbott, Senator Ted Cruz, and Senator John Cornyn online for what she described as reckless pro-gun policies. Notably, her outspoken views have fueled further speculation about whether politics shaped her son Joshua’s worldview as well.
“Governor Abbott, Senator Cornyn and Senator Cruz how does it make you feel that your action to open up gun laws is responsible for the killing of 21 more people?” Sharon wrote in a May 25, 2022 post.
Meanwhile, Joshua’s father, Andy Jahn, reportedly worked as a mechanical engineer for over 30 years before retiring. Andy’s friends and neighbors have described him as a reserved and hardworking man.
Joshua Jahn had an older brother named Noah Jahn, who has spoke openly with the media following the tragic shooting. Noah stressed how he never knew his brother to hold extremist political beliefs and described him as “not a marksman”. Noah also shared how during their last meeting, which took place two weeks before the shooting, Joshua gave no signs of what was to come.
Noah also added how Joshua was focused on moving to their parents’ Oklahoma property, and not plotting violence. Meanwhile, online, some netizens have claimed to have found Joshua’s sister, Kioko, identified through circulating family photos.
Kioko, 27, has been arrested three times in Collin County and has other run-ins with the law across Texas since 2017 as well.
Jahn was first arrested on April 4, 2019, and charged with misdemeanor assault, an offense she pleaded guilty to seven months later in exchange for an unspecified probation term and she was booked again on March 4, 2022, for marijuana possession but her case was dismissed in August 2023
