While touring with Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks had an affair with fellow band member Mick Fleetwood. At the time, Fleetwood was still married. His love affair with Nicks carried on for quite a while. “Never shoulda happened,” she said, according to Vulture.
Nicks expressed her regrets and complicated feelings regarding her relationship with Fleetwood when she sat down for “Oprah’s Master Class” (posted on YouTube). The affair, she says, “caused a lot of pain for everybody,” and while she and Fleetwood still care deeply for one another, Nicks remembers the negative side of the affair all too well.
In the Vulture report, Nicks reflects on the personal lesson she learned from that time “…If there’s anything I learned from that relationship, it was, ‘Don’t go after other women’s husbands,’ because it never works out,” she said. “You are never gonna be the woman if you break up a marriage. You’re just the home-wrecker.” Of course, in a band as on top of the world as Fleetwood Mac, there’s sure to be countless tales and long days and nights, and Nicks didn’t take any of them or their lessons for granted.
