BRITS will enjoy soaking up the 25C heat today in the hottest day of the Jubilee Bank holiday weekend before a thunderstorm warning later.

The Met Office have said that the day will start with “blue skies in the south and far northwest” although it is expected to be much cloudier in other areas.

Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Rebekah Sherwin said: “Temperatures could reach 25C in the south on Friday, although this will likely be the warmest day and later in the weekend the highest temperatures are likely to be in the northwest.”

Western areas look most likely to see a few heavier showers on Friday, with a small chance of one or two for central parts, while areas further to the east should get the best of any sunshine.

It comes as the Queen’s Jubilee weekend saw Brits come together across the UK to celebrate Her Majesty’s 70 years on the throne.

Brits up and down the country celebrated on Thursday as a scorching mini-heatwave arrived.

The mercury climbed to a balmy 22C in south-eastern England on Thursday, with temperatures in the high teens and mid-20s elsewhere.

And after a plume of tropical air swept in from the continent yesterday, Brits will luckily be seeing more sun before showers start to spread north over Friday night.

The Met’s Friday forecast said: “Any mist or fog lifting to give another dry morning with long sunny periods.

“Sunshine continuing into the afternoon, but a little hazier in the west. Showers spreading north overnight.”

The national weather service added that the UK will be mostly dry with sunny spells.

Any rain is likely to be scattered, locally heavy showers according to predictions.

But the rest of the four-day weekend looks slightly more uncertain, with patches of rain and potential thunder.

Saturday will be mainly dry and bright with spells of sunshine in the north especially.

However, elsewhere in the UK, the Met have issued a yellow weather warning for some southern parts of England on Saturday.

And there are concerns that thunderstorms could torpedo the star-studded Platinum Jubilee concert on Saturday.

Heavy rain, lightning and localised flooding have all been predicted tomorrow in Plymouth, Southampton and could potentially reach London.

There will be more in the way of cloud cover on Sunday with scattered showers spreading northwards across England and Wales and may be heavy.
