Production on next year’s season of Married At First Sight has been thrown into chaos after sexologist Alessandra Rampolla tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday.

Alessandra, 47, announced her results on Instagram on Wednesday night, telling her followers she would be spending the next two weeks self-isolating.

The Puerto Rican love guru is believed to have contracted the virus while on holiday with friends in Cairns, Queensland.

While Rampolla is scheduled to be out of Covid quarantine just in time to film the upcoming MAFS reunion, producers have implemented strict protocols and warned the cast and crew to take precautions.

The brides and grooms have been instructed not to leave their homes unless it is absolutely essential until after the reunion is filmed.

They have also been given clear instructions not to visit any restaurants, bars and cinemas.

While viewers are getting ready to meet this year’s couples, the producers have been racing against time to shoot the infamous reunion episodes.

Production company Endemol Shine Australia is yet to film the last episode of the season, which is usually shot in mid January.

Last year, producers were forced to delay filming until mid February after several key cast members refused to return to Sydney if they had to quarantine for two weeks.
