BRITAIN is set for yet more washouts as a yellow weather warning has been issued for heavy rain and flooding – but a 30C scorcher is forecast only days away.

Southwest Scotland is set for a torrential downpour as residents have been warned homes and businesses could flood, the Met Office said.

The warning also extends to local bus and train services with travellers warned services are likely to be affected.

The Met Office added: “A period of heavy rain during Tuesday may lead to some minor flooding for southwest Scotland.

“Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer.”

A Yellow warning means that you should plan ahead thinking about possible travel delays, or the disruption of your day to day activities.

The counties of Wigtonshire, Kirkcudbrightshire, Ayrshire and Dumfriesshire all fall under the warning.

But the yellow warnings will quickly become a thing of the past as a 30C scorcher is set to sizzle Britain.

Wednesday and Thursday could see the mercury sizzle to these sweltering climes, with the south east of England expected to enjoy the best of it, according to forecasters WXCharts.

Meanwhile The Mirror reported that by the weekend, a high pressure system pushing up from the south will see temperatures boil to the mid-20s in parts of the country.

As for Tuesday, unsettled weather is also expected outside of Scotland.

The northwest of England will see cloud and outbreaks of rain, some of which will be heavy, which are expected to dampen spirits on Tuesday.

This will then move slowly to other western areas throughout the day bringing persistent rain.

Northern Ireland is expected to have a wet and windy start to Tuesday but as the night draws in this will clear and dry up.

It will be dry elsewhere and south-eastern areas will be treated to plenty of sunshine and breezy conditions.

Tonight will see rain in western Britain spread to the east, leaving a mix of clear spells and scattered showers behind, the BBC reported.

While south-eastern England, Northern Ireland and the far north of Scotland will avoid the worst of the rain.

Wednesday will have variable cloud, sunny spells and scattered, heavy showers, these merging into longer spells of rain at times.

But it will be turning dry by the evening with late sunshine becoming more widespread.

From then on – the country is expected to bake under sizzling temperatures of up to 30C.

Friday will be a drier and sunnier day across the east, with some isolated showers, BBC Weather warned.

While cloudier skies will linger in the west with showers possible for much of the day.
