SINGER and rapper Sidhu Moose Wala was a well-known musician in his home country of India and was growing his presence worldwide.

He was murdered on May 29, 2022, in the city of Mansa, India, when the car he was driving was attacked by gunmen.

Who was Sidhu Moose Wala?

Sidhu Moose Wala was only 28 years old when his car was abushed.

He was known for his unique style of music, called Punjabi, which is named after the region of India where he was from.

Wala was also a breakout rap artist whose songs gained him more than 4billion YouTube views.

In addition to his musical pursuits, Wala also joined the Indian National Congress last December.

He then lost to AAP candidate Vijay Singla in the campaign to maintain the seat.

On April 11, 2022, Wala dropped a new song titled Scapegoat, which discusses his failure in the state assembly elections.

Until the day before his death, Wala had a government-sanctioned protection detail with him, but it was revoked just before the attack.

How have local officials reacted to the attack on Sidhu Moose Wala?

The Indian National Congress responded with a tweet that read: “The murder of Shri Sidhu Moose Wala, Congress candidate from Punjab & a talented musician, has come as a terrible shock to the Congress party & the entire nation.”

Additionally, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann released a tweet that read: “I am shocked and deeply saddened by the gruesome murder of Siddhu Moose Wala. Nobody involved will be spared.”

“My thoughts and prayers are with his family and his fans across the world. I appeal to everyone to stay calm.”

User @GarvJain1804 echoed the feeling the community was left feeling, tweeting, “Still cannot digest how talented he was at just 28. Just cannot fathom what has happened, everytime I look at his pictures after being shot, I still fail to believe what has just happened. He would’ve been the biggest thing in Punjabi music. #sidhumoosewala
