Anne Hathaway and Jared Leto recently made a public appearance together to promote their new Apple TV+ series, “WeCrashed.” Their road to sharing the screen, it turns out, was actually pretty smooth. At the red carpet premiere of the series at the South by Southwest Film Festival, Hathaway spoke about Leto to People, sharing, “I think how gentle he is, that was a surprise.” She added, “Sometimes when you just know somebody’s work from the outside, you imagine there’s a level of intensity to him. But he was so sweet, calm, and supportive of me.”
Hathaway’s claims that Leto was gentle on-set would be particularly surprising to “Suicide Squad” star Scott Eastwood, who previously told E! News, “I was sort of afraid to approach [Leto] because I didn’t want to mess with his thing going on.” Then again, Leto’s sudden change of personality may have been another method acting technique. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hathaway hilarious greeted her co-star at SXSW as if they were meeting for the first time, saying, “Jared, it’s so nice to meet you.” Hathaway explained that Leto only responded to his character’s name while on-set and “became Jared again” after filming. As Hathaway didn’t hide being surprised by her experience working with Leto, perhaps the “Suicide Squad” actor is rehabilitating his on-set reputation.
