Music mogul Scooter Braun isn’t buying into the fan theories that Taylor Swift’s sharp track “Vigilante Sh*t” from Midnights was influenced by his divorce.

The 44-year-old executive, whose complicated history with Swift goes back to their 2019 masters dispute, dismissed the rumors during a recent podcast appearance. He did so while making a light-hearted jab at the speculation.

Braun Calls the Theories a “Great Strategy Move”

On the Question Everything podcast, Scooter Braun laughed off suggestions that Swift’s lyrics about befriending an ex-wife for revenge referred to his split from Yael Cohen.

“No, ‘cause I talk to Yael every day,”

he said.

“My ex-wife is one of my best friends. We don’t even call each other ‘ex.’ That’s like my partner, the mother of my children.”

He even showed off a tattoo on his finger that says “same team,” symbolizing their co-parenting relationship. Regarding the song’s release, which coincided with his 2022 divorce, Braun joked,

“Great strategy move, but nah.”

The Backstory Behind Swift’s “Bad Blood” With Braun

The conflict started in 2019 when Braun’s company bought Swift’s former label, Big Machine, giving him control of her early masters. Swift publicly criticized the deal, calling Braun an “incessant, manipulative bully.” Although she regained ownership in 2025, sources close to her stressed that it happened “in spite of Scooter Braun, not because of him.”

While Braun maintains that their conflict is resolved “I am happy for her”, Swift’s fans believe her music contains hints about their feud especially the vengeful anthem from Midnights. However, Braun’s recent comments suggest he has moved on. He even joked about the rumors, saying, “She never thought it was about us.”
