NASCAR Cup Series driver Corey LaJoie predicts that there might be a major shift in the Joe Gibbs Racing garage. Considering that Kyle Busch is hanging onto a thin rope, there might be a chance that Gibb’s grandson, Ty Gibbs, takes his seat.

During his podcast, LaJoie said, “I’m gonna go ahead and say it right now ladies and gentlemen, he’s gonna be driving the number 18 car next year in the cup series,” he briefly pauses to whistle and then continues, “go ahead take her to the bank.”

He then adds, “He’s certainly capable, he continues to get better each and every week, I’m glad I finished directly behind him this week because I finished one spot behind him every week now I would love to finish 11th.”

Corey LaJoie could be right about that chance that Joe Gibbs might prefer to bring in his grandson over someone who hasn’t been performing so well this year.

Ty Gibbs finishes in the top 10 at the Cup Series

NASCAR Xfinity driver Ty Gibbs clenched a 10th place finish in the Cup Series during the race at Michigan International Speedway whilst replacing Kurt Busch.

Gibbs suffered a penalty during the race as he was caught speeding in the pit lane. That relegated him down to P24 with just 40 laps remaining. However, Ty showcased his driving prowess and managed to cut through other veteran drivers to finish the race in 10th.

This was an amazing feat to watch coming from the 19-year-old driver, who’s being speculated by many to join the Cup Series next year. In the three races that Gibbs has replaced Kurt Busch, he has consistently been in the top ’20s. Apart from this, he also garnered five Xfinity wins this season alone in an absolutely dominating performance. We are ought to see what the young prodigy has in store if and when he joins the Cup series in the future.
