In just three years in this league, Ja Morant has established himself as one of the best. Coming as the number 2 overall pick, the expectations were always high. However, this high-flying youngster has evolved with every passing season. Leading the Grizzlies to one of the best seasons ever, Morant has unreal confidence in himself. Likewise, it shows on the court. However, recently the 22-year-old All-Star broke the internet when he said he could beat both Michael Jordan and Lionel Messi.

When the conversation for GOAT comes up, the argument often starts and ends with His Airness. In the world of soccer, Leo Messi is on a similar pedestal. The Argentinian legend ranks second in most career goals. His recent move to PSG was the first time he moved away from his boyhood club of Barcelona. As one of the craftiest players in the history of soccer, Messi gets the better of even the best.

However, Ja came out bold and said he won’t lose. While Messi has made any goalkeepers fall to his might, Morant feels he can stop the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner. Moreover, Ja also said no one could beat him one on one.

Ja Morant could beat Michael Jordan and Lionel Messi?

After his best season in the NBA, Morant has quickly risen among the ranks. His ability to fly through the gym and show up in the big moments has made him a leader. None of that is possible without sheer self-confidence. However, Morant may have gone overboard with his recent statement.

While in an interview, Morant said he would love to play in the era of Michael Jordan. Moreover, he said he could get the best of His Airness and even soccer legend Lionel Messi. Morant said: “I would’ve cooked him too. Nobody got more confidence than 12. I’m never going to go and say nobody going to beat me one on one in anything. I don’t care what it is. Who the best player in soccer? Messi, yeah i would be pretty cold. I would be the goalie and have him… matter of fact somebody set it up.”

Maybe Morant won’t be able to stop a player with 769 goals to his name. There is also a chance he may not fare well against a prime Michael Jordan. However, it is his electrifying confidence that allows him to break all barriers. His statement may come off as disrespectful, but is the true definition of an athlete. Ja isn’t going to back down from the best and that’s a fact.

The reactions have been wild with Morant saying he could beat Michael Jordan. But at the end of the day, it is all about competition. And both MJ and Morant are cut from the same cloth. Do you think Ja would have a chance against a prime Jordan? Let us know your views in the comments below.
