Former Oasis star Liam Gallagher and former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher have been involved in a Twitter spat following Manchester City’s Premier League title win.

City bagged their sixth Premier League title following a huge comeback to seal a 3-2 win over Aston Villa on the final day of the season to finish just one point ahead of rivals Liverpool.

Gallagher took aim at the former England defender after a brace from Ilkay Gundogan – and a Rodri strike – cancelled out goals from Matty Cash and Philippe Coutinho after they were originally trailing 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium.

Liverpool also claimed three points after coming from behind to beat Wolves 3-1 at Anfield.

Goals from Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson secured Jurgen Klopp’s side a win – but it meant very little in the end as City were still crowned champions.

At the start of a series of X-rated tweets, Gallagher tweeted: ‘What you saying carra you (bell emoji) end.’

However, Carragher wasn’t taking Gallagher’s dig lying down, and responded by claiming City will never win the Champions League and the Beatles are better than Oasis.

He replied: ‘I’m saying you’ll never win the Champions league & Oasis are s***e compared to the Beatles. That work??’

The 49-year-old singer wasn’t done as he lashed out at Carragher’s reply and even brought Gary Neville into the argument.

‘Eh carra you got s*** banter for a scouser f***ing hell la you been hanging out with Neville too long oasis p*** all over the Beatles how many times did they do knebworth.’

Gallagher also tweeted at Aston Villa manager and former Liverpool player Steven Gerrard.

‘Gerrard can kiss my a*** as well as the bumbaclart his old clubs smash our bus up. MCFC Champions.’

He soon followed that by tweeting ‘f*** off slippy Gerrard.’

City’s title win makes them the second most successful team in the Premier League’s history with six as they moved ahead of Chelsea with five and sit just behind Manchester United with 13 titles since the Premier League was formed in 1992.

Although the Citizens have still yet to win the Champions League, having been knocked out in the semi-finals this season to Real Madrid, who will face Liverpool in the final on Saturday.
