NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal is best known for his exploits on the basketball court. After his brilliant career in the NBA, he made headways in the media industry with his association with ‘Inside the NBA’.

Honesty is one of Shaq’s most beloved character traits. The former NBA champion is not one to mince his words whenever he is speaking on a topic, be it on his podcast or on ‘Inside the NBA’.

He was once part of a podcast with Oprah Winfrey. During the podcast, he answered a host of questions regarding his time in the NBA and also his personal life. When asked about his favorite nepotism story, Shaq had a lot to say.

My favorite nepotism story is Nick and Micky Arison. Micky Arison owns the Miami Heat and he has a son, Nick Arison. Nice, young kid, attended Duke University. So, I’m reading an article in the paper, it said that the grandma left each kid when they turned 18, a $100 million and I think about 10 or 15% of the team“, said Shaq.

Later on, the Big Diesel discovered the same guy cleaning locker rooms despite his staggering inheritance. O’Neal then talked about how Nick was never spoiled by Micky Arison. Rather, he had to work his way up the ladder. He further added, “I’ve never seen him in a suit in my first two years. Kid’s worth $400 million, never seen him in a suit! The way Micky handled that situation, I’mma do it the exact same way.

Shaq then went on to say that he’s going to implement a similar model for his kids. The Big Aristotle spent an important part of his career with the Miami Heat where he won his fourth and final NBA title. Incidentally, the franchise is worth a whopping $2.3 billion.

Shaquille O’Neal followed Micky Arison’s parenting style

Despite having a huge net worth of around $400 million, Shaquille O’Neal makes sure his children have to work hard to touch his money. During an appearance on a popular show, O’Neal revealed his interesting parenting style.

He said, “My motto is ‘you have to get three degrees to touch some of my cheese.” The cheese is the money he has earned. Shaq has six kids and most of them are doing well in their respective careers and O’Neal’s parenting has definitely played a part.
