Liverpool are two games away from the prospect of winning a quadruple – but star midfielder Fabinho has warned that Jurgen Klopp’s side are ‘physically and mentally’ exhausted.

It has been a truly remarkable season from Klopp’s side as they have won both the Carabao and FA Cups, as well as pushing Manchester City to the final day in the Premier League title race, with just one point separating them.

Liverpool’s gruelling season will come to its conclusion in Paris in the UEFA Champions League final against Real Madrid.

With two games left Fabinho, who is currently sidelined with an injury picked up away to Aston Villa, has admitted that Klopp’s men are close to running on empty.

‘I think I can speak a little general: we are very tired,’ he told Spanish newspaper Diario AS

‘It’s true because we’ve been playing on weekends and during the week for a month now, always game after game and important games; which makes you physically and mentally tired as well.

‘But this team worked very hard to get here, to this point in the season with a chance of winning all four trophies.’

Fabinho, who has said he remains ‘very calm’ about overcoming his injury in time for the Champions League final on May 28, believes boss Klopp has something of a headache piecing together a team for the final day against Wolves.

Klopp made nine changes from the team that won the FA Cup final to the one that edged past Southampton in midweek, with Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah among those not to be risked having picked up problems at Wembley.

‘There are few games left, this is a final sprint and the coach will have a bit of a headache to form a team because 120 minutes at this point in the season (for the FA Cup final) is not easy,’ the Brazilian added.

‘I hope that those who play are well, prepared, because it will be very hard.’

Liverpool go into Sunday’s final round of the Premier League season without destiny in their own hands.

Klopp’s side need to beat Wolves at Anfield and hope that Aston Villa, managed by former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, can avoid defeat to Manchester City, who are also at home on the final day.
