Further, top tennis players in the world have begun their preparations for the tournament in full swing, aiming to dig deep at one of the most difficult tournaments on the tennis calendar. Former tournament director Guy Forget returns to the French Open as a consultant

Earlier this week, the tournament announced Guy Forget will return to Roland-Garros as a consultant six months after his resignation as tournament director.

The former World Number 4 had resigned from his position as the tournament director of the French Open and Paris Masters in December, last year. Talking about his resignation, Guy Forget said, “With Moretton, it was like a pair of doubles that didn’t stick.” Gilles Moretton is the president of the French Tennis Federation. Subsequently, the Federation appointed the former World Number 1, Amelie Mauresmo as the Roland Garros tournament director.

Favorites to win Roland Garros this year

In the men’s singles, World Number 1, Novak Djokovic will make his maiden appearance at a Grand Slam tournament this season. Earlier this year, the Serb had missed the Australian Open due to his visa controversy. However, the 20-times Grand Slam champion has found form at the right time. He has won the Italian Open in the lead-up to the clay-court major tournament. The 34-year-old will be a strong contender to defend his title in Paris.

Further, Djokovic will face a stern challenge from the likes of Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz. The latter had even defeated him at the Madrid Open. Additionally, Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev, and Stefanos Tsitsipas will also be vying for the title in Paris.

In the women’s singles, there is no stopping Iga Swiatek at the moment. She enters the tournament on the back of a 28-match unbeaten run.
