After retiring from professional golf, Paige Spiranac invested herself in social media and made a career out of it. She is now the most followed golfer on Instagram; even the golf legend, Tiger Woods, has fewer followers than her.

The 28-year-old appreciates the attention and followers she gets online. However, Spiranac doesn’t believe she should be the one who should decorate the ‘most followed golfer on the internet’ title. And she has a reason to believe that.

“You look at the top followed person in golf, and that’s me,” Spiranac said.  “Like I shouldn’t be the most followed person in golf like it just is what it is.” She explained how entities of other sports have 20, 40, or 50 million followers, whereas she holds the top position among the golf entities with 3.5 million followers.

The former professional golfer compared how golfers and other sports entities differ in terms of using social media to promote themselves and the sport in the latest episode of her podcast, ‘Playing a Round With Paige Renee.’

Paige Spiranac wants the LIV Golf players to be more active on social media.

Many PGA Tour players joined the LIV Golf to play in its Invitational Series. They had shared that they joined the league to grow the game and to get more people interested in golf with the new format.

However, Spiranac believes that the LIV golfers need to do more than just leave the PGA Tour and play for another league to grow the sport. “(It) just shows you that they just don’t care now that they made the money,” she said. “And that’s not growing the game of golf.”

LIV Golf has reportedly paid millions to players like Phil Mickelson, Brooks Koepka, and Dustin Johnson to play in its new Series. And according to Spiranac, they need to invest more time on social media if they want to get offers like this.

How did Spiranac make her career in social media?

Like other professional golfers, Paige Spiranac wanted to play golf and establish her name as one of the bests. However, she couldn’t find success doing the same. Soon after Spiranac retired from golfing, she turned into a full-time social media influencer and eventually became successful.
