Following the NASCAR Cup race in Sonoma, the NASCAR Cup and Xfinity drivers had a two-week recess. While many drivers took the time to relax, Team Penske driver Austin Cindric hopped on a flight to Canada for the F1 Grand Prix. Apparently, this was the Daytona 500 winner’s first-ever live F1 race, and Pennzoil helped make it happen. However, he confessed that while he would love to drive an F1 car, it may not be possible for him.
He said, “You can say I’m too tall, but people have been telling me that my entire career. I would certainly love to drive one. I think as far as ever hoping to race one? I think the culture just doesn’t support that. You don’t have one-off entries. That just doesn’t happen.”

“But I’m very passionate about motorsports. I’m very passionate about my background and being versatile, and you kind of miss that sometimes. I feel like [Juan Pablo] Montoya was kind of one of the last guys to be able to do that, although you’ve got Kimi [Raikkonen] coming in to do a NASCAR race.”
How have the Team Penske drivers been performing this season?
Unfortunately, the Team Penske organization has not been performing up to standard. Aside from a win for Joey Logano and the Daytona 500 win for Cindric, the season has been a Hendrick and Joe Gibbs show.
This means that the likes of Ryan Blaney are still looking for their first win of the season. Fortunately for him, there is plenty of time to sneak into the Playoffs and Blaney is capable of winning.
The good news is that there are 10 races left on the calendar, including this weekend’s race at Nashville. Blaney knows that it is crunch time for him and he needs to join his teammates in the Playoffs.

Meanwhile, the likes of Logano and Cindric also have to ensure that they stay in the competition for as long as possible.
