Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton have gone 11 races without a win this year. Though the team looked competitive later on, their best finish this year has still only been in 3rd place. Further, the Brackley outfit’s questionable performance has put Hamilton’s eighth title in jeopardy. Who knows if the Briton will even be able to win a race now?.

For the last 3 races, the driver has been in incredible form. In fact, he looked ready to take the Silverstone crown at one point if not for tire disadvantage and lesser pace. Instead, the driver was pushed back to satiate himself with only a P3. But there’s a depressing stat that might upset Hamilton fans further.

The 7-time champion has had 299 race starts till now. Interestingly, no one, including many former world champions, has won a single F1 race after crossing the 300 race starts milestone. The seven-time world champion’s 300th race will take place on the Circuit Paul Ricard at the upcoming French GP. Is the curse about to get to him too?

However, it’s worth noting that the driver currently competes for one of the top teams in F1. Despite being 37 years old, Hamilton was in contention for the world title last year.

Notably, he would’ve won the title if not for race control blunders. Further, Mercedes are looking dangerous after the upgrades, giving a possible sign that they might win a race after all.

Lewis Hamilton to be competitive in the French GP?

We can always trust the octuple constructors’ winners to deliver a race-winning car. With half the season still left, one of their drivers can at least make a big jump to shine on the table. The team will definitely count on George Russell and Hamilton to be similarly competitive on the French grounds, as they’ve been throughout.

Team boss Toto Wolff revealed, “At Silverstone, if you look at our metrics, we had the fastest race car. We were pretty competitive in Barcelona, too.” Further, Paul Ricard is a very Silverstone-like track that might favor Mercedes in their quest to win a race.
