Tatiana Schlossberg, an environmental journalist and author, has built a life and career that intertwines her own accomplishments with the legacy of her famous family. As the granddaughter of President John F. Kennedy and First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, her path has always been one of public interest, but she has carved out a personal world centered on her own family.
She is a mother of two young kids and the wife of Dr. George Moran, with whom she is facing an incredibly difficult health challenge after recently receiving a terminal cancer diagnosis.
A Personal Partnership and Growing Family
Tatiana’s journey with her husband, George Moran, began during their undergraduate years at Yale University. Their relationship culminated in a wedding on September 9, 2017, at the Kennedy family estate on Martha’s Vineyard. George, who is from Greenwich, Connecticut, is a physician, specializing as a urology resident at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital in New York. Together, they have built a family. Their first child, a son named Edwin Garrett Moran, was born in 2022. In May 2024, their family grew with the birth of their daughter, whose name the couple has chosen to keep private.
The joy of their daughter’s birth was shattered just hours later when doctors discovered Tatiana had an abnormally high white blood cell count. She was soon diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, specifically a rare and aggressive subtype known as Inversion 3. In a heartfelt essay, Tatiana revealed that her doctors have told her she has about a year to live. She has shared that one of her greatest sorrows is the fear that her young daughter will not remember her, and that her son might only have faint memories.

Throughout her intense treatment, which has included chemotherapy, a bone-marrow transplant, and clinical trials, Tatiana has credited George as her steadfast supporter, noting he “did everything for me that he possibly could.”
The Broader Kennedy Family Circle
Tatiana is the second of three children born to Caroline Kennedy, the former U.S. Ambassador to Japan and Australia, and Edwin Schlossberg, a designer and artist. She has an older sister, Rose Kennedy Schlossberg, and a younger brother, John “Jack” Bouvier Kennedy Schlossberg, who recently announced his campaign for Congress. This immediate family has been a core part of her support system. Tatiana has expressed profound gratitude for her parents and siblings, who have been “raising my children and sitting in my various hospital rooms almost every day” during her illness.

Her family’s support became especially poignant as she publicly disclosed a rift with her cousin, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., following his confirmation as Secretary of Health and Human Services. Tatiana, who is immunocompromised, wrote of her concern that his well-known vaccine skepticism could impact access to crucial vaccines for millions, including cancer survivors like herself.
