ADAM Woodyatt has put his possible return to EastEnders in doubt after signing up for a HUGE new BBC role.

The soap actor – who stepped back from his long-running role as Ian Beale last year – recently ruled out a return to Albert Square.

Now, Adam, 53, looks to have confirmed he will not be rushing to return to EastEnders as he has signed up for a new TV role.

The star has been cast for BBC Daytime programme B&B By The Sea, which is set in a guest house on the Northern Irish coastline.

Alongside Great British Menu chef Alex Greene, a number of celebs will come together to create a dish from local ingredients.

Among the celebs already signed up to the show are Richard Blackwood, Linford Christie and Deborah Meaden.

Now, Adam has joined the celebrity cast set to jet off to Antrim for what the BBC have described as a “personal journey of discovery”.

“Each episode will see a different celebrity guest, all with connections with the coast, stay at the B&B,” the programme description reads.

“Taking a personal journey of discovery and reflection, they make the most of the region’s produce and the restorative location.”

Adam was spotted filming at Roe Park Resort in Drumraighland alongside his former EastEnders co-star Larry Lamb.

Olympic athlete Linford, 62, Loose Women’s Gloria Hunningford and Question of Sport star Ugo Monye were also spotted on location.

The Sun Online have contacted the BBC for comment.

It comes after Adam ruled out his return to EastEnders, despite previously saying he would return if he was asked to by the soap.

The former EastEnders star cleared up any doubt on Steph’s Packed Lunch, saying he had “no plan” to go back.

Previous reports stated that Adam never truly refused a comeback to the show following his January, 2021, exit.

Host Steph McGovern first asked him to explain the reasons for his departure from the soap in dramatic lines last year.

“I’ve kind of left, but not left. It’s kind of the way the storyline has gone, I’m not there”, Adam replied. “I could go back and I could not go back! I don’t know.

“The speculation has been hysterical. I think everyone is always going to speculate. But there are no plans at the moment.”

Adam is in no rush to reprise his role and this becomes apparent as soon as he speaks of this time out of character.

“I’ve been having a ball. Being back on stage, I’d forgotten why I fell in love with acting because you get that immediate response”, he continued.

“You’ve got an audience. If you do something on television, you could be waiting six weeks to three months a year.”

Slipping into the skin of the EastEnders chef in 1985, Adam was one of the longest-standing characters in the programme.

He left the fictional London borough of Walford in January, 2021, after learning that Letitia Dean’s character (and on-screen wife) Sharon Watts poisoning him.

In March, reports claimed that he had allegedly been offered a huge sum close to £300,000 to return to the show.

“Adam was one of the highest earners in EastEnders and there’s no doubt he’d be looking to come back on at least the same money”, a close source said.

“They’re keen to get him back after losing Danny (Dyer).”
