DEAR DEIDRE: AN elderly dog I took in from an animal charity escaped from my garden and has been missing for well over a month. I am distraught.
This dog had been at the rescue centre for years and needed a loving home. I did everything I could to settle her in, including sleeping beside her to help build trust.

I had only had her for two weeks but she managed to escape. I have put up posters, searched the streets, kennels and called everyone I can think of but there have been no sightings of her.
I am a 33-year-old woman. I have had prank calls which didn’t help my mental health. The stress has made me ill. I have been made to feel a failure. I am trying my best to find her, but the guilt is sometimes overwhelming.
