RITA Tanner’s on-and-off feud with Audrey Roberts gets out of control once again.
The soap legends get into another spat on Coronation Street after Shona attempts to lift the hairdresser’s spirits.

The past is never really the past for Audrey (Sue Nicholls) and Rita (Barbara Knox).
Known for their love/hate relationship, the frenemies have another row in an upcoming instalment of the ITV soap, scheduled to air next week, when Rita confronts Audrey about her secret boozing.
It all begins when Shona (Julia Goulding) suggests Rita has a night out, urging her to ask Audrey to do her hair.
Although reluctant, Rita eventually agrees and convinces Audrey to put their rift to bed by giving her a hairdo.

Later on, Shona takes credit for their reunion as she finds Audrey getting along smoothly with a freshly-coiffed Rita.
But soon, Audrey bridles at being set up by Shona, to which Rita responds with exasperation.
Rita’s patience runs out and, with a parting jab about Audrey’s daytime drinking, she storms out.
While their friendship is one of the longest in the cobbles, Audrey and Rita have always struggled to get along without a hitch.
Their relationship has been put to the test for over three decades, particularly due to their connection with Alf Roberts (Bryan Mosley).
Running a grocery shop at No.15, Alf became heavily involved in local politics and was even the mayor of Weatherfield.
In 1985, he tied the knot with Audrey… but not before flirting with Rita.

Prior to walking down the aisle with the hairdresser, Alf drunkenly proposed to Rita.
She turned him down on multiple occasions.
The situation was only worsened when Alf reiterated his proposal, both drunk and sober, in 1993, claiming he would leave Audrey if Rita accepted him.
But again, Rita turned him down.
While she was never made aware of her husband’s proposals to Rita, Audrey’s suspicions about his feelings for her led to many arguments between the two women and the newsagent was often embroiled in the couple’s fall outs.
Alf passed away in 1999 after suffering a stroke but this didn’t stop the Audrey and Rita from feuding over men.
The Corrie stalwarts got involved in another love triangle in 2016, when they fought over Freddie Smith.
Men weren’t the only ones to be at the core or their arguments: Rita reignited their feud by leaving Audrey’s salon… and investing in Maria Connor’s business plan.
More recently, in September, 2021, Audrey angered Rita over a hair colouring row.
This led her to reverse her car into the owner of The Kabin’s car.
But no matter how many fights they may have had, Rita and Audrey have always found a way back to each other.
Can they bury the hatchet once again?
