APPEARING regularly on the cobbles since 1999, Dev Alahan could meet his end as he is about to rekindle his relationship with Bernie Winter.
Corrie executive producer Iain MacLeod teased that the character played by Jane Hazlegrove could kill off her love interest in an attempt to cover up a dark secret.
With the dalliance last year, Coronation Street fans probably did not expect Bernie and long-standing character Dev (portrayed by Jimmi Harkishin) to rekindle their flame.
However, in episodes airing this week, they will give their relationship another go following Joseph Brown’s (William Flanagan) safe return home.
They won’t be afraid to get serious as Dev will suggest a date before Bernie will pull him in for a kiss.

Bur during a visit at Chesney and Gemma’s household, Dev could discover that his employee has been overwhelmed with groceries, after he attempted to make a gesture of kindness towards him.
He could then find out, after more digging, that Bernie was the one to stock up her daughter’s cupboards, in spite of her looking for freebies in one of his shops earlier on in hopes of helping the family of five as Chesney and Gemma grow tired of putting food on the table.
Later on, the ruthless businessman could learn how Bernie got her hands on the whopping amount of produce, only to find out that she could have landed herself a considerable amount of money.
As Chesney and Gemma put out a television appeal to bring their eldest son Joseph home, the pair promised a £30,000 reward on offer.
Distracted by Joseph’s return, they could have forgotten to give Bernie’s friend his due, leaving the latter to take charge instead.
But could Bernie have pocketed the reward money destined for the man who brought her step-grandson home?
And if Dev found out her secret, the happiness of her entire family could be at stake, perhaps leading him to meet a dark fate after 23 years in Weatherfield.
According to The Express, Iain MacLeod spoke more of what Bernie could resort to in the aftermath of Joseph’s disappearance.
The Coronation Street boss teased that she “makes a decision that is for all the right reasons at the time but will ultimately cause the whole family to be brought into disrepute.”
“Bernie’s decision jeopardises burgeoning friendships and it makes the whole of the street really look sideways at the wider Winter-Brown family”, he said.
Iain added: “The choice she makes is very relatable but it transpires to be a terrible decision.”
Could Bernie be capable of the worst in order to protect her family?
