CARSON DALY surprised the world after revealing that he and his wife slept in separate beds in an agreement called a “sleep divorce.”
The Today Show host told viewers that the nighttime habit first began when his wife, food blogger Siri Pinter, was pregnant with the couple’s fourth child.

“I was served my sleep-divorce papers a few years ago,” Carson told his fellow hosts.
“It’s the best thing that ever happened to us. We both, admittedly, slept better apart.”
When Siri became pregnant with their child, Goldie, in 2020, the couple stated they found sleeping together in the same bed unbearable.
“We’re both pretty good-sized humans, and it just wasn’t really working when she was in her third trimester, and I also have sleep apnea, which is very sexy for the ladies out there, I’m sure,” Carson told People in 2020.
Carson wears a CPAP machine which he told People is “like sleeping next to Darth Vader.”
“We woke up and we just shook hands like, ‘I love you, but it’s time to sleep divorce. It’ll be the best thing for all of us,” he said.
Carson also mentioned their sleep divorce in a previous episode of the Today show: “We don’t want to sleep apart, but we have now, and I think secretly we’re both like, ‘This is kinda cool’ because you get command of the whole room.”
The couple still keeps up the habit two years later.

YEARS AND YEARS
Carson and Siri have been married since 2015 but have actually been together for over a decade.
They met on the set of a late-night talk show on NBC in 2002 but didn’t start dating until 2005 when Siri started working as a writer’s assistant.
The two initially kept their romance a secret before they went public.
“We realized we were in love and it wasn’t just an office romance,” Carson once said to Elle.
Although he had dated a string of high-profile women in the past like Jennifer Love-Hewitt, he claimed he wanted to settle with a woman whose life was out of the spotlight.
“I realized I’d have more in common with a regular person than with a celebrity,” he said. “There were values I was more likely to find in a nice, Midwestern girl than one who was living on the coast, pursuing fame.”
The two eventually tied the knot on December 23, 2015.
I think long-lasting, healthy relationships are more important than the idea of marriage,” Carson said to Elle.
“At the root of every successful marriage is a strong partnership. And that’s what we have.”
“The husband and wife thing is just the bow around something. Our end game is we want to be together forever,” he concluded.
SIRIOUSLY DELICIOUS
Although Siri herself isn’t an actress, she is the daughter of Mark Pinter, a daytime soap opera star who has appeared in Love of Life, Guiding Light As The World Turns, Loving and All My Children.
She’s previously worked as a TV assistant and movie producer known for her work on Committed (2005), Frasier (1993), and The Rebel Billionaire: Branson’s Quest for the Best (2004).
She currently runs her own food blog, Siriously Delicious, which has landed her segments on The Today Show.
“Starting a food blog wasn’t like I was suddenly a foodie, it was more like ‘Oh my gosh, I am in this domestic situation — how do people do it?'” she told the Long Island Press.
“I started to keep track of meals that were working and meals that weren’t and then writing with humor along the way. A lot of feedback I have had over the years is when people tell me that they don’t cook, but I make them want to try. It’s a great compliment because that is my goal, to make cooking seem approachable and fun.”
‘POT OF GOLD’
Carson and Siri have four children total one son and three daughters. Their kids include:
Jackson James Daly (b. March 15, 2009), Etta Jones Daly (b. September 6, 2012), London Rose Daly (b. August 20, 2014), and Goldie Patricia Daly (b. March 26, 2020).
Carson explained that the inspiration for Goldie’s name came from a traditional Irish holiday.
“I was looking at Irish names on St. Patrick’s Day morning and I stumbled on Goldie…and she seems like the pot of gold at the end of our family rainbow,” he revealed on Today.
In Goldie’s birth announcement on Instagram, the couple reflected on bringing their little one into the world amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
“We thank God not only for the safe birth of our daughter but for their tireless work attending to so many in need. It is a bittersweet event for us as we are extremely grateful, but also mindful of this unparalleled time in our history.
“We appreciate your well wishes and ask that you join us in praying for the many suffering around the world. God Bless you all,” they wrote.
