‘Yes this is me in my knickers and not for creepy reasons,’ the blonde declared in her caption.

She went on to explain that the designer of her underpants is donating proceeds of sales towards endometriosis research.

Mel, who suffers from the debilitating disease, explained that she hopes to ‘start a conversation’ about endometriosis by capturing people’s attention with her racy post.

‘So, for the month of March @veeunderwear is donating $1 from each sale of their new RED styles to @endometriosisaustralia and I can confirm 100% comfort,’ the Endometriosis Australia Ambassador continued.

‘I was asked if I’d like to promote them and if my bum starts a conversation about endometriosis I’m all in.’

Common symptoms include extreme pelvic pain during time of a woman’s period, chronic pelvic pain and bloating.

It can also cause infertility – something that Mel has battled with in the past.

‘My chance of getting pregnant naturally is one per cent,’ she told The Project in 2017.

WHAT IS ENDOMETRIOSIS?

Endometriosis is present when the tissue that is similar to the lining of the uterus (womb) grows outside this layer and causes pain and/or infertility.

There are a wide variety of symptoms – pain can affect areas ranging from the abdomen and lower back to the pelvis and vagina.

Other symptoms include painful sexual intercourse, abnormal menstruation, nausea, bloating, and pain with bowel movements.

The only way that the diagnosis of endometriosis can be made is to undergo a laparoscopy and have a tissue sample taken.

There is no cure, but treatments such as hormones and excision surgery, are available.

She recalled undergoing IVF with her ex-husband Steven Pollock., revealing that the pair ‘created embryos’ prior to their divorce.

‘But then what you don’t plan for is your marriage to end and your time to basically disappear,’ she said.

Mel revealed to the panel that she was 23-years-old when she started taking The Pill to ease the pain, on the recommendation from her gynaecologist.

After seven years, Mel stopped taking the contraceptive medication, but suffered from even more pain.

The radio personality also revealed that she had suffered severe pain while hosting her dream job at the time, the Hot 30 Countdown.

‘There was no way I would call in sick. I pushed through and masked the pain. That’s all you can do,’ she said.

The disease eventually spread to other parts of her reproductive organs, causing her complications.

She recalled: ‘Once [the doctors] went in there and had a look, they said, ‘You need major surgery. Your ovary and your bowel are attached to each other.

‘We’ll have to do a resection on your bowel. You’re in serious trouble here. You might lose one of your reproductive organs,’ Mel continued.

Since then Mel has undergone multiple surgeries to remove the affected cells.
