HE WAS just a teenager when he played Joey Russo, the middle brother and ‘dumb jock’ character in hit 90s sitcom Blossom.
With his flowing curls and leather jackets, ladies’ man Joey was known for his drawn out catchphrase “Whoa!” on the American sitcom that ran for four seasons between 1991 and 1995.

The role made actor Joey Lawrence a heartthrob for teen girls everywhere – especially when his character turned down a place at university to become a professional baseball player.
But these days actor Joey is looking a little different.
All grown up, the dashing actor is no longer sporting the flowing curls he had when he played Italian-American Joey Russo – brother of central character Blossom.
The actor, who is perfectly tanned with piercing eyes and a classic perfect American smile, is now 46 and has two children… plus a close cropped haircut.
Joey was briefly married to Michelle Vella in 2002, before the couple divorced two years later.
He actually met his second wife, Chandie Yawn-Nelson, on holiday at Disney World as a teenager but the pair reconnected and married 13 years later in July 2005.
The couple have two daughters; Charleston, born in 2006 and Liberty Grace, born in 2010, however they hit problems in 2017 when they filed for bankruptcy.
Joey then filed for divorce in July 2020, before meeting actress Samantha Cope on the set of a Lifetime movie.
He proposed to Samantha in August 2021, although a date for their wedding is yet to be announced.
After Blossom, he starred in sitcom Brotherly Love along with his two siblings Matthew and Andrew, before embarking on a successful career in music and film.
Joey has also dabbled in music along the way, releasing two albums in the 1990s, as well as singles in 2008 and another two in 2011.

He starred alongside Melissa Joan Hart (of Sabrina the Teenage Witch fame,) in sitcom Melissa & Joey as Joey Longo.
The series ran from 2010 until its finale in 2015 and Joey plays the nanny to politician Melissa’s niece and nephew.
Since the show ended, Joey has tried his hand at presenting and appeared on game-shows and reality TV series Cupcake Wars in the US.
He has also appeared in episodes of Hawaii Five-0 and took part in Celebrity Big Brother in 2019, where he finished in ninth place.
