The BBC One show returned to screens last month, following the lives of animals breeding across the UK this springtime.

Fans have been tuning in nightly from Mondays to Thursdays to watch hosts Chris Packham and Michaela Strachan on Springwatch.

Last night, the pair had to break the news that the show had come to an end as they waved goodbye for another year after three weeks.

However, viewers at home were left complaining as they took to social media to fume that they would “miss” the show.

“BBC Springwatch is already over for another year, I’m really going to miss you Chris and Michaela,” one fan wrote to Twitter.

“Superb series and so sad it’s over,” a second chimed in, as a third added: “Sad to see Springwatch is over for another year.”

“Another Springwatch is over,” a fourth added alongside crying emojis. “Three weeks is nowhere near enough.”

“Springwatch, it’s been an absolute joy and over far too soon,” a fifth said as a sixth concluded: “Need more of that!”

It comes after viewers were left lost for words after Chris Packham’s ‘pornographic’ reaction to a rare sighting on the show.

The 61-year-old and co-host Michaela returned to our screens last night for another instalment of the BBC show.

During a segment about Nightjar birds, Chris’ passion about the beautiful creatures became very apparent.

The pair explained that that they had been seen for the first time in 16 years and there were signs of a possible breeding pair at Wild Ken Hill.

Chris explained that just down the road from where they are in Norfolk for the show, there is a high density of Nightjars, so he went down there to have a look.

And just before he was about to give up, he managed to see one fly past and he couldn’t contain his excitement.

As he spoke over the footage of the Nightjar in her nest, Chris confessed: “Something has just burst!”

Chris added: “I think I’ve ruptured myself. Look at that oh my goodness me it’s absolutely extraordinary!”
