Penelope was born April 2 1940 and is an English actress of radio, stage, television and film.
She was made a Dame in the 2014 New Year Honours for services to the arts and to charity.
Penelope began her acting career in the 60s on the stage before switching to TV in the 70s, where she became a household name.
What is Penelope Keith most known for?
Penelope shot to fame in 1975 when she landed the role of Margo Leadbettter on The Good Life.
In the first episode she was only heard and not seen, but as the episodes and series went on, due to popularity, her role became more included.
Penelope went on to win the Bafta for Best Comedy Performer for her role of Margo.
After The Good Life she switched to another hit comedy, To The Manor Born, and from 1979–81, she played the lead role of Audrey fforbes-Hamilton.
Following To The Manor Born, Penelope appeared in six other sitcoms as the main lead:

Most recently Penelope presented the Channel 4 series Village of the Year with Penelope Keith as well as taking to the stage in The Chalk Garden at Chichester Festival Theatre.
Ten years after The Good Life ended in 1978, Penelope adopted two children with husband Rodney Timson.
The pair are still married after tying the knot back in 1978.
The couple met while he was on duty at Chichester Theatre where she was performing.
