The sudden deaths of the two teens have left their families, friends, and neighbors in deep shock and mourning.
New Jersey ‘Stalker’ driver mows down two teenagers
A fatal accident recently took place in New Jersey, where two teenagers were killed by a stalker who has been identified as Vincent Battiloro who has now been charged with two counts of first degree murder. The case is in juvenile court. Battiloro is from Garwood and 15 tickets were issued to him and among the citations are leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving and speeding, and driving without a license, registration or insurance card.
According to the police, the two teenagers were riding a shared e-bike on a residential street in Cranford when the driver of a black Jeep deliberately struck them. Investigators have revealed that the crash was not random and are currently probing the incident as a stalking case. The horrific collision killed both the victims, identified as Maria Niotis and Isabella Salas on the spot.
The two girls died after being mowed down around 5:30 p.m. Monday by Vincent who was in his black 2021 Jeep with tainted windows. The crash took place just outside Maria’s grandmother’s house.

As news of the tragic incident spread, classmates, teachers, and neighbors flooded in with tributes and condolences. Maria’s loved ones wrote in her obituary:
“She aspired to graduate high school and start a cosmetology career.”
Meanwhile, a Cranford High School teacher posted online:
“The loss of Maria and Isabella is unbearable. They were bright lights in our community, full of talent, kindness, and promise.”
One of Isabella’s choir peers added:
“She had the voice of an angel. Every rehearsal, every performance—she lit up the room. This is heartbreaking.”
Town officials have also released a statement expressing their condolences to both families and pledging support to the school community.

Maria Niotis was originally from Rhodes, Greece, and had moved with her family to New Jersey, where she spent most of her life. She was just 17 years old at the time of her death and a student at Cranford High School. Maria had dreams of pursuing a career in cosmetology after graduation, and her friends described her as warm, artistic, and ambitious. She leaves behind her parents, her twin brother, with whom she had a close bond, and her extended family.

Isabella Salas was a lifelong resident of Cranford and a well-known face at Cranford High School. She was 17 years old at the time of her death and actively took part in extracurricular activities and thrived in the arts. She was an active member of the school choir, an a cappella group, and even participated enthusiastically in the Cranford Dramatic Club Theater. Isabella was known for her powerful singing voice and leadership in various performances. Many of her friends described her as a creative and compassionate person who was always ready to support others. She leaves behind her parents, siblings, and a wide circle of friends.
