Jonathan Lemire Biography
Jonathan Lemire is an American journalist and political correspondent who is currently working as the host of MSNBC’s morning news show Way Too Early. He is also a bureau chief for Politico in the White House. He is also a political analyst for both MSNBC and NBC News.
Lemire grew up in Lowell, Massachusetts. He attended and graduated from Central Catholic High School in Lawrence, Massachusetts, where he was a record-setting runner in school track and field. In 2001, he received his bachelor’s degree in history from Columbia University.
Despite Jonathan’s joining Politico, he was a White House reporter for the Associated Press. For the AP, he covered two presidential administrations, first Donald Trump and then Joe Biden. He gained media attention for his news conference questions to Trump and Russia’s Vladimir Putin at their July 2018 Helsinki summit.
In addition to his hosting duties, Lemire is a regular on Morning Joe as well as a frequent guest on MSNBC programs such as Deadline White House with Nicole Wallace and The 11th Hour with Brain William, and he contributed to the networks’ coverage of the 2020 election and Biden’s inauguration.
Jonathan also covered Donald Trump’s first presidential campaign. He previously covered New York City and state politics, including the 2013 mayoral election. Before joining the AP, Lemire spent more than a decade at the New York Daily News.
In October 2021, MSNBC named Lemire as the new host of its early morning news show, Way Too Early, taking over full-time reporting duties from Kasie Hunt. He was also named White House bureau chief of Politico and began his duties in November 2021.
