George Carlin

A standup routine performed by the well-known comedian George Carlin has gained widespread attention on the various social media platforms in the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision to reverse the Roe v. Wade verdict from 1973. In spite of the fact that a quotation from the late comedian was discussed in relation to the possibility of reversing the decision following the verdict that was handed down on June 24, the quote has now found new application on the internet.

Carlin is credited with saying the following in a remark that has since gone viral:

“If a person’s rights aren’t absolute, they aren’t truly rights. These are advantages and rights. In this country, we’ve never had anything more than a bill of temporary privileges at any one time. And if you read the news, even if you don’t do it very well, you already know that the list is continually getting shorter.”

There was George Carlin. On the eve of the upcoming obliteration of what we took for granted as settled law for a woman in the United States to choose to have an abortion #protectroevwade #prochoice #mybodymychoice #ChristianShariaLaw #GOPTaliban On the eve of the upcoming obliteration of what we took for granted as settled law On the eve of the upcoming obliteration of what we took for granted as settled law

The aforementioned quotation was taken from George Carlin’s final comedy special produced in partnership with HBO and titled It’s Bad for Ya. The program was shown in 2008, only four months before Carlin passed away at the age of 71.

Since the draft to overturn the Roe v. Wade verdict was released in May, this quote and Carlin’s views on abortion legislation have also been circulating ever since. The aforementioned Carlin jokes were taken from his standup special for HBO titled “Back in Town,” which aired in 1996.

Comment made by George Carlin in reference to people wanting more restrictive abortion restrictions

Back in Town is the name of a comedy program that George Carlin performed in which he addressed the demands of politicians and conservatives who have voiced their opposition to the Roe v. Wade verdict that was handed down in 1973 about abortions. Carlin devoted roughly eight minutes of his comedy show in 1996 to discussing the legal framework surrounding abortion. The special was taped at the Beacon Theater in New York City.

George Carlin criticized the so-called “Pro-Life movement” and the people who back it by referring to them as “anti-women.” He said:

“Conservatives who support life have an unhealthy preoccupation with the fetus from the time of conception until it is nine months old. After that, people have no interest in learning more about you. They are not interested in hearing from you at all. No nothing! There will be no provision for newborn care, childcare, head start, school lunch, food stamps, welfare, or anything else of the sort. If you’re pre-born, you’re alright. If you are in preschool, you are in big trouble.”

George Carlin included the following in his stand-up comedy special:

“They despise women; it’s as straightforward as that. They hold the view that the fundamental responsibility of a woman is to act as a broodmare for the state.”

George Carlin, who was also popular at the time, directed attacks at people who supported abortion rights. The comic posed the following question to the people in attendance at the venue:

In the wake of the Roe v. Wade decision being reversed, internet users agree with comedian George Carlin’s perspective on the anti-abortion movement.

After the verdict in Roe v. Wade, which had been in place since 1973, was reversed by the Supreme Court of the United States, advocates of the Pro-Life Movement and politicians took a lot of criticism. Those who promoted anti-abortion views received backlash on social media platforms from a legion of celebrities and pro-choice supporters who called them out for their beliefs.

The video clip of George Carlin caused a stir online, with hundreds of people watching it in the midst of the massively contentious outcry that was caused by the verdict. In the meantime, supporters and followers of the Pro-Life movement expressed their happiness at the decision being reversed. A great many of people have remarked, in the midst of the dispute, that Carlin’s perspective on the issue from more than 26 years ago is still highly pertinent.

Years ago, George Carlin hit the bull’s-eye right in the middle of the conservative attack on women and abortion by pointing out its dark center. The same as it has always been.

Simply doing a search for “which states spend the least on prenatal and early childhood care” will provide you with the information you need to determine which states have passed legislation that immediately overturned abortion.

These folks who support abortion are the worst hypocrites. They claim to care about the lives of children, which is why they want to put an end to abortions. Despite this, however, 19 children were slain in a school shooting, and they have NO solution to this problem. Again, George Carlin was and still is correct in his assessment of these fools.

In light of the Supreme Court’s judgment in the Dobbs case, which overturned the Roe v. Wade ruling, I believe that this quote by George Carlin is relevant.

What does it mean that Roe v. Wade has been overturned?

Following the overturning of the verdict, many conservative states have chosen to outlaw the operation of abortion with a few minor exceptions, while others have decided to place limitations on the termination of pregnancy beyond six weeks, or even more in some instances. In the meantime, some states like California have relaxed their restrictions on pregnancy while others, like Vermont, have not. This means that women who are in need of an abortion have the option to seek one in another state if they live in one of those states.
