At the beginning of the film, Kevin plays a prank on Melissa by helping her commit a theft so that he can earn her affection. After one year, the pair has decided to be married and start living together. When Melissa gets back to the house to prepare dinner, she asks Kevin to help her out, but he gives the excuse of having to go to work and instead flirts with Grace, a young hostess who works at the restaurant where he works. During this time, Melissa’s supervisor, Conour, confides in a buddy that he has affections for Melissa.
Melissa is assaulted by a man who asserts that Kevin owes him three thousand dollars while Kevin and Grace are having sexual relations in Kevin’s car. The following day, Kevin’s ex-girlfriend confronts Melissa and reveals the whole truth to her. After she returned home, she made the discovery that Kevin had been unfaithful to her. She decides to dissolve the marriage after having a confrontation with him about everything. The two individuals get into an altercation in front of their neighbors the following morning, which results in a chaotic situation. Melissa leaves the apartment while Kevin works on obtaining the money that his ex-girlfriend, Quinn, requires. After meeting her, he decides to take the money for himself and ends up killing her.

The day finally arrives when Melissa and Kevin are forced to discuss their impending divorce, and Kevin is dead set on getting his hands on the considerable sum of money that will be awarded to him as a result of their breakup. When Kevin’s patience is finally exhausted, he approaches Melissa with the proposition of having a private conversation. As soon as she does, he grabs her as a hostage and demands that she sign the divorce papers so that he may have all of the money he wants as well as a portion of her business. Conour, who had been following Melissa because he had a feeling that something would go wrong, bursts into the scene at this precise moment and tackles Kevin to the ground. The problem is resolved with the assistance of the police who were called to the location. Melissa makes an effort to move on with her life after Kevin is sentenced to jail for the kidnapping and assault he committed.
