Michelle Lodzinski was found guilty of the murder of her 5-year-old son Timothy Wiltsey.

Michelle Lodzinski is best known for being the mother of a murdered 5-year-old child.

According to his mother, Michelle Lodzinski, Timothy William “Timmy” Wiltsey was a 5-year-old toddler from South Amboy, New Jersey, who went missing from a carnival in adjacent Sayreville on May 25, 1991.

When authorities scoured the area where the festival was held, Wiltsey was not found. About 11 months later, his bones were discovered across the Raritan River in the marshlands of nearby Edison, near an office park where Lodzinski had previously worked.

Michelle Lodzinski Bio/Wiki

Unlike her son Timothy William “Timmy” Wiltsey, Michelle Lodzinski’s biography has yet to be included in Wikipedia’s official source.

On Timmy’s wiki page, however, there is some information regarding Michelle.

Michelle Lodzinski of Laurence Harbor, New Jersey, met George Wiltsey when she was 16 years old and began dating him soon after.

Since his father had become hostile, Lodzinski returned to her house with her young son six months after giving birth. Lodzinski’s friends, relatives, and professional sitters kept an eye on Wiltsey on a regular basis. She later fabricated her own child’s disappearance, which was later discovered dead.

In 2021, the New Jersey Supreme Court heard the Lodzinski case.

After Chief Justice Stuart Rabner recused himself, the other justices were deadlocked, leaving her most recent appeal, which affirmed her conviction, in place.

The Supreme Court was persuaded to adopt a rarely used rule that allows for a rehearing with a different judge who is temporarily designated as a justice to hear the case in order to reach a decision.

At the end of the year, a small majority of the court overturned her conviction, concluding that the evidence was insufficient to condemn her by a reasonable jury.

She changed her account about how her son went missing within a month of his kidnapping, and her cold demeanor on the few occasions she spoke publicly about the case made her a suspect.

Later in the decade, she was found guilty of inventing her own kidnapping and then stealing a laptop from a former employer, further cementing the public’s negative perception of her.

Prosecutors would not charge her until the 2010s, by which time she had remarried, had two more children, and traveled to Florida, where she was apprehended in 2014.

Wiltsey’s bones had deteriorated to the point that the cause of death could not be determined, and no one had seen him in a long time save Lodzinski, making it difficult to connect her to any wrongdoing or pinpoint when and how it occurred.
