The masterminds of state capture, Atul and Rajesh Gupta, have been arrested in Dubai for plundering the South African government.

The claims have been confirmed by law enforcement officials in the United Arab Emirates, according to the Justice Department. They are contemplating the next measures as well as how to collaborate with the UAE, according to the statement.

The Guptas fled South Africa a few years ago after being accused of misconduct in relation to their suspected role in State Capture.

The Gupta Brothers have been arrested on charges of defrauding the South African government

According to the Department of Justice, two of the Gupta brothers, Atul and Rajesh, were arrested in Dubai on Monday night.

An Interpol red alert was issued for the brothers because they were wanted for widespread graft, fraud, and money laundering.

According to the department, various law enforcement agencies in the UAE and South Africa are now discussing the case.

According to sources, a high-level gathering of law enforcement agencies is currently taking place in Pretoria. The Gupta brothers and their spouses fled South Africa during investigations into their alleged theft of billions of rands from state-owned companies.

Ajay Gupta and Rajesh Gupta: Who Are They? The Guptas are a family of Indian businessmen

With roots in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur, the Gupta family migrated in South Africa in 1993. This family includes three brothers, Ajay, Atul, and Rajesh Gupta, as well as Atul’s nephews Varun and Ashish and Amol, who live in the United States.

Atul founded Sahara Computers, the family’s first business in South Africa, in 1993. In South Africa, the Gupta family now owns coal mines, computers, newspapers, and a media platform.

Duduzile Zuma, his daughter, was a director at Sahara Computers, the Guptas’ first South African firm.

Duduzane Zuma, his son, was a director of a few of Gupta-owned companies before resigning in 2016 amid public outrage.

Update on the Gupta Brothers’ Net Worth in 2022

According to Wikipedia, Atul Gupta is the seventh richest person in South Africa, with a net worth of R10.7 billion (US$773.47 million) based on JSE-listed holdings.

They have been accused of corruption and undue influence because of their close association with Zuma, both personally and through their company Oakbay Investments.

Oakbay sold TNA Media (The New Age newspaper) and Infinity Media (ANN7 TV news) to a firm called Lodidox, which is owned by Mzwanele Manyi. Oakbay will sell its two-thirds ownership in TNA Media for R150 million and its investment in Infinity Media for R300 million, according to the company’s statement.
