Sophie started cycling when she was quite young. She competed in numerous junior events and won sprinting national championships.
Capewell gained notoriety in 2015 after debuting in the UEC Under-23 and Junior European Track Championships in Athens. She placed fourth and fifth, falling short of the podium.
Capewell won her first big race at the 500-meter trial, and she and Lauren Bate split the bronze medals. She was chosen to compete for Great Britain in the 2017 European Cycling Championships.
In a women’s sprint race at the 2020 UCI Track Cycling World Championships, Sophie took part. Capewell won the bronze medal in the women’s team sprint at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships held in 2021 in the middle of the year.
