Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, has declared that Nigeria’s implementation of fuel subsidies is a “scam.”
Speaking on a monitored Arise Television current, the earlier Anambra State Governor acknowledged that Nigeria cannot proceed to spend $40 billion on subsidies with out receiving a proportionate return in price.
“In the meantime, your vital sectors receive less than half of the total.” “Do subsidies take precedence over health and education?” he acknowledged.
He then reiterated his willpower to eradicate subsidies and enhance important monetary areas like power, healthcare, and coaching, saying, “I will remove it and use something to replace what we are eliminating.”
“In other words, do we believe that subsidies are more essential than people’s lives and property?” We need to have the flexibility to say, “If we keep this, we won’t get this.” However, attributable to suspicion, I must declare that subsidies are a swindle.
