Market America announced his passing via a statement across the company’s social pages, which confirmed Ridinger had died yesterday (Tuesday, August 30).

Following the sudden news, some have wondered about JR Ridinger’s age as they reflect on his career and legacy.

Market America announces founder’s passing

In a statement across Market America’s social media pages, including its Twitter and Instagram, on Tuesday, the company announced its founder JR Ridinger had passed away.

The post explained that the business mogul had died “suddenly” however a cause of death is yet to be revealed.

News of his death comes as Ridinger was seen to be enjoying a vacation in Croatia. He announced he was “cruising Croatia” over the weekend on his Instagram and, in his most recent post, detailed a visit to a waterfall on the country’s coast.

While many have taken to the comments of Market America’s post, Ridinger’s followers have also flooded the comment section of his most recent post.

One user wrote: “May you rest in peace.” while another added: “There’ll never be another JR, thank you for everything.”

JR Ridinger was 72 years of age

According to a 2011 profile on Ridinger by Bloomberg, which reported him to be 61 years old at the time, as of 2022, JR Ridinger would have been 72 years of age. 

The business mogul celebrated his latest birthday earlier this year in March. At the time, he dedicated a post to his fans and followers on Instagram as he thanked them for their birthday wishes.

Among the many birthday wishes from fans in the comments of his post, actor Jamie Foxx also followed suit as he shared his appreciation for the businessman.

JR Ridinger’s net worth explored

Ridinger was a leader in the world of retail, having served as chairman and chief executive of both Market America and Shop.com. 

The businessman founded Market America, a product brokerage and online marketing platform, three decades ago in 1992 and has steered the company ever since as chairman and chief executive.

In 2010, Market America acquired Shop.com, with Ridinger also taking on the role of chairman and chief executive of the site. According to Inspirery, Shop.com is now known as the primary global shopping site powered by Market America. 

Following his success in online retail and marketing, it is no surprise to hear that Ridinger is estimated to have had a net worth in the hundreds of millions.
