Say So singer Doja Cat is putting her vaping habit to bed after having surgery to remove an abscess that “hurt a lot”.

Doja opened up about quitting vaping in a candid tweet, explaining her tonsils were infected before the recent 2022 Billboard Music Awards.

“I’m quitting the vape for a while and hopefully I don’t crave it any more after that,” the singer told fans.

What happened to Doja Cat’s throat?

Doja Cat just revealed she underwent surgery after contracting a throat infection.

On Thursday (19 May), the star explained: “Dr just had to cut into my left tonsil. I had an abscess in it. My whole throat is f***ed so I might have some bad news for y’all coming soon.”

She then explained her tonsils had been infected before and she was meant to be on a course of antibiotics, but forgot.

“I was taking antibiotics but forgot I was taking them and then I drank wine and was vaping all day long. Then I started getting a nasty growth on my tonsil so they had to do surgery on it today,” she wrote.

“He poked up in there with a needle twice and then sucked all the juice out and then he took a sharp thing and cut it in two places and squoze (sic) all the goop out. I cried and it hurt a lot but I’m ok.”

Say So singer confirms she’s quitting the vape for a while

After opening up about her throat surgery, Doja Cat told fans she’d be putting her vape away for a while. “I’m quitting the vape for a while and hopefully I don’t crave it any more after that,” she wrote.

As reported by Page Six, the singer is often pictured with her vape. In fact, just before she accepted her Billboard Music Award, she was seen sipping a cocktail and vaping.

She then tossed the vape on the ground and took home two wins – for top rhythm and blues album, and top rhythm and blues female artist.

Fans send Doja Cat well-wishes

Amid news of her throat surgery, fans took to Twitter to send Doja Cat well-wishes.

“I hope you feel better soon,” one person tweeted.

“Damn girl. How long is recovery?” another asked.

“I’m glad you’re ok but damn that was graphic as hell,” somebody wrote.

“I hope you feel better asap,” another said.
