Former No. 1 tennis player, Maria Sharapova has announced that she is expecting her first child with her fiancé Alexander Gilkes.
The pregnancy reveal took place on Sharapova’s 35th birthday, 19 April 2022 and now fans are eager to know more about the father of her unborn child.

Who is Alexander Gilkes?
Born in London, England on 16 July 1979, Gilkes, 42, is a businessman.
In 2011, Gilkes co-founded Paddle8, an online auction house based in New York City. Most recently, he co-founded Squared Circles alongside Sharapova.
The company established in 2020 is described as ‘a venture studio, residing at the intersection of operations, branding, capital and talent’ on its website.
Gilkes has also served as an auctioneer for auctions including Madonna’s Raising Malawi and the Elton John Aids Foundation.
Before his relationship with Sharapova, Gilkes was married to fashion designer Misha Nonoo. However, their five-year marriage ended in divorce in 2017.
Gilkes’ net worth
According to Famous People Today, as of 2021, Gilkes has an estimated net worth of $25 million.
In 2015, Paddle8, of which Gilkes was co-founder and president, became the world’s fifth largest auction house with $150 million in sales. The company was sold the following year.
Alongside fiancé Maria Sharapova, who held the rank of the top-earning female athlete for years, the couple has an estimated combined net worth of $200 million.

The couple’s pregnancy reveal
Sharapova and Gilkes first began dating in 2018 and by 1 January 2021 they were engaged. Sharapova revealed the news on her Instagram, sharing with fans a photo of her ring.
Whilst the pair are yet to officially tie the knot, they announced the birth of their first child on 19 April 2022.
Sharapova took to her Instagram to share the exciting news with her fans. She has since been congratulated by several celebrity friends including actress Lily Collins and former athlete Lewis Howes.
