MINNEAPOLIS, MN: In a recent tragic incident, Arabella Foss-Yarbrough, a mother from Minneapolis, was captured on camera yelling at a crowd of protesters who had gathered outside an apartment building in the Seward neighborhood where a Black man named Andrew “Tekle” Sundberg was shot and killed by police on July 14. This is not a George Floyd problem, she yelled.

On July 16, a sizable crowd of demonstrators gathered outside the south-side apartment where 20-year-old Sundberg was shot after a six-hour standoff. The mother of the two and four-year-old children who had initially phoned 911 the night of the incident also turned up at the scene. “The shot went through my door, through a pillar to the kitchen, where I was preparing food for my children,” she cried. Because they nearly died, my kids now have to deal with this and likely suffer from a mental disorder. He sat in the f-ing hallway watching me move, which resulted in gunshot holes in my kitchen. She described how she grabbed her two small sons and fled to the bedroom, where she contacted the police, who arrived and saved them. “I thought, ‘We’re not going to make it, we’re not going to make it,’” she said.
Sundberg became reclusive after the police ejected Arabella’s boys from the flat, and the officers had to spend more than six hours dealing with him. Then, on July 15, at around 4.30 am, two snipers shot Sundberg, leaving him dead. He passed away at Hennepin Healthcare later. Arabella’s and the dead man’s neighbor McCay Lillian stated on Facebook that she heard the gunshots and criticized the demonstrators for not believing her. She described how she and her husband “got a notification to stay in our home because there was an active shooter 0.5 miles away” on the night of the massacre. After a brief period of silence, there were only sirens and the sounds of officers speaking over the intercom in exactly the same fashion for the following six hours. Arabella created a GoFundMe campaign after she lost her job as a result of the altercation with the cops. According to the website, Sundberg “has been harassing and stalking her for months.” To assist with Sundberg’s burial costs, “food, and aiding the younger siblings in the family,” another GoFundMe was also created.
