Who is Dixie Brubaker? Provocateur Dinesh D’Souza has been married twice

Dinesh D’Souza’s controversial new documentary, 2000 Mules, is all over Twitter following its weekend premiere – but who is his first wife, former colleague and mother of his only child, Dixie Brubaker?

Who is Dixie Brubaker?

Dinesh D’Souza and first wife Dixie Brubaker met while she was interning in the Reagan White House, writes the Washington Post.

He was in politics, too, working as a policy aide.

They married in 1992. Vanity Fair reported in 2015 that, after dating Laura Ingraham and Ann Coulter, D’Souza “found the ultimate prize in Dixie Brubaker”. The San Diego Reader has a picture of her here.

She was a “beautiful blonde from a conservative California family”, VF continues. And, D’Souza admits, it was his “mission (to marry) the all-American girl”.

Do they have kids?

Yes – one. Dinesh D’Souza and Dixie Brubaker have one daughter, Danielle D’Souza Gill (pictured below). In 2019, Slate called Danielle a “rising conservative commentator”.

She has almost 77K followers on Instagram, several screen credits (mostly as herself), and a photo of her shaking the hand of former president Donald Trump as a landing page on her website.

Danielle D’Souza Gill is on the advisory board of pro-Trump organisations Women For Trump and Indian Voices For Trump. She has also spoken at events organised by Asian Americans For Trump, Farmers And Ranchers For Trump, and Latinos For Trump.

The Los Angeles Times quotes her as saying in 2020: “There are so many women who support Trump all over the country, but I feel like we don’t always get to meet each other. So sometimes it kind of feels like you’re the only one.”

She wrote on Twitter yesterday (Sunday, 8 May 2022) that if anyone in political office or the media is “silent” about her father’s new documentary 2000 Mules, “that tells me all I need to know”.

Others replied that, since Dinesh D’Souza did not present his case in court, where he can be cross-examined, “that tells me all I need to know”.

How did Dinesh and Dixie’s relationship end, and who is his wife now?

In summer 2012, Vanity Fair accused Dinesh D’Souza of “seeing Denise Odie Joseph II before any divorce papers were filed”.

He and Dixie Brubaker were still husband and wife; Denise was in her late 20s – 22 years younger than Dinesh – and had a husband.

D’Souza was the keynote speaker at a high-profile Christian event in South Carolina in September 2012. During the evening, he reportedly introduced Denise Odie Joseph II to “at least three people” as his fiancée.

In other words, summed up New York Magazine two years later, “he was engaged to his girlfriend while still married to his wife”. It was “truly a case where I didn’t know better”, D’Souza told NYMag in his defence. Nevertheless, the scandal was sufficient to force him to resign. At the time he was president of King’s College, a Christian school in New York.

In March 2016, Dinesh married his second wife, Deborah Fancher. She’s originally from Venezuela. US senator Ted Cruz’s father, Rafael Cruz, officiated.
