El Paso County Sheriff’s Office reports that a deputy was killed after being shot while responding to a gunshot call (EPSO).
ESPO has issued shelter-in-place orders for an area close to Ponderosa Drive and Grand Boulevard.
John Paz, a Hispanic guy who is believed to have been engaged in the shooting, is being sought after by the sheriff’s office.

A shelter-in-place order has been issued for the Widefield-Security region because the Sheriff’s Office is searching for a Hispanic man in connection with an earlier Sunday gunshot that led to the order.
The man’s name is John Paz. The Sheriff’s office shared a picture of him on Twitter on Sunday night.
Residents in Security-Widefield are advised to seek refuge close to Grand Boulevard and Ponderosa Drive by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office. In a social media post, the sheriff’s office advised homeowners to lock their doors and windows and secure their houses.
In response to continuing law enforcement action in the region over a gunshot, this has been done. They advise the public to call 911 only in cases of immediate danger.
John is a 33-year-old guy who was born in 1988 or 1989, according to the Sheriff’s Office, but no more information has been disclosed.
Shooter John Paz Wanted For Killing Officer Andrew Peery
On Sunday, El Paso County Sheriff Bill Elder made the announcement of the death of a deputy killed in the line of duty. Elder revealed the identity of the deceased deputy, Andrew Peery, to a reporter from UCHealth Memorial Hospital Central.
While responding to a gunshot, Andrew was murdered in Security in the 500 block of Ponderosa Drive. Bill claims that a Fountain police officer and two deputies arrived almost simultaneously, and they were met with gunshots.
At least one gunshot was fired at the deputy officer, and at least one round was returned by the officers. John Paz, who is armed and dangerous, is wanted by the police.
A law enforcement procession is taking Deputy Andrew’s body to the El Paso County Coroner’s Office.
In a statement released Sunday night, Governor Jared Polis said, “My thoughts and condolences are with Deputy Peery’s family and friends, as well as all of our neighbours in law enforcement who risk their lives to serve others.”

While John Paz is evading the Sheriff, the Sheriff is making every effort to track him down and apprehend him.
Anyone who knows where John is supposed to be should call 911 or dispatch at 710-390-5555, according to sheriff Bill Elder. John’s family could be startled to learn of his wrongdoing.
The problem has not been addressed by his family, and the EPSO has not yet made any information concerning him public. People post their sadness and condolences on Facebook in response to the widespread news of Deputy Andrew’s passing.
